A New Room! The New Year is a lovely time to do some decorating. Star Captains, you are getting a new room in your starships tonight! I've started making some new items for you - there's a Hovering Goldfish Bowl that goes quite well in the Floor slot on the far left of the new room, with more hovering-style items to follow in the weeks ahead. Also new, for the Wall slots, is the Snow Globe On A Shelf. (The new part is the shelf. The snow globe was previously only available on a table as a floor item.)
As you can see in the above snapshot, there is now also a "back door." It will transport you to the mecha bay area of the starship. Thanks to Rolith for doing some backend work to make this happen for us. I got everything set up but just didn't have the access level needed to actually add the slot equip functionality.
I've been wanting to add another room for ages, and it came about because I was attempting to fix a Gremlin that happens when you have your starship set as your hometown. Sadly, the bug is still firmly in place (because the process of loading the starship as the hometown is a complete mystery to me so far - and also a mystery to Ash, to Vivi, to Korin, and even to Rolith). (Warlic, I'm asking you next!) So if your starship is your hometown, you still see an ancient starmap when you first enter. Just run out the bay doors and re-enter from Soluna East and you get your updated modern current map.
New Star Captain Missions Also On The Way! Ash is developing a fantastic new set of missions for you as we speak. More on that later.
So this week's release is still a work in progress - it also will involve an engine change so when we announce that it's live you will need to refresh your browser window.
I'll touch base with you again soon! Better get to battling because the holiday bonus xp and credits boosts will be gone after we roll.
Flavescent Friday! The Flavescent Friday shops are open now in Soluna City Main. They will stay open for the weekend, and then will disappear for another year at 7 PM EST (server time) on Monday, 22 December, so grab your rares and discounted items now, while the sale is hot!
All-new Frostval missions on Planet Thoh! Gianna Glow's first script with some minor co-authoring by Ash, who built the missions. New art courtesy of Lyris. Very exciting never-before-seen all-new missions are live now, with more coming soon.
Follow @Lyris_AE on Twitter for exciting previews and storyline hints like this:
Greetings! Many of you have been asking what we had planned for the next big storyline and now you all can find out! You can access the new quest, which will begin the brand new main storyline, in Soluna Main right now! Right now you'll be able to access it without having to play "The End", the end of the previous main storyline, but that will change in two weeks. If you haven't completed the ending, which includes the conclusion of the biggest war against the Shadowscythe ever, you really should first as this new quest might be a bit confusing if you haven't. There's also a limited time reward if you complete the quest now. There's a brand new mecha drawn and animated by Minar!
After this week it'll be replaced with a new mecha created by Lyris with a few additions by myself. The mecha by Lyris and I will be around permanently though as the reward from this quest. Make sure to be careful when attempting the quest, the enemy inside has resistances to 2 damage types as well as the ability to gain additional resistances as you battle against him. This'll be a really tough fight if you aren't careful! This quest is only possible thanks to the entire team. We all spent months planning and coming up with ideas, especially for the new main villian. I wrote and built the quest but Maegwyn, Lyris, Gianna, Minar, and everyone else on the team contributed so much to get this ready. This storyline is going to have you exploring all over as time goes on, to planets and places in the universe you haven't seen yet. It's going to be a wild ride and I hope you'll keep checking back to see how crazy it gets! I also want to take a second and thank all of you, the players. Without you we wouldn't have anyone to make this content for. Your support and feedback is what makes us that much more excited to do things every week. The amount of support recently for MechQuest made me work extra hard on this quest to show you all that we're going to continue to put out the best content we can for you guys. Enjoy the quest and let us know what you think of it and the new enemy!
No-score and seven years ago, our four-or-five-fathers brought forth a ... new Dropship, and planned for its (crash-) landing in Soluna City... and here we are today, still exploring the vast multiverses!
Happy 7th birthday to MechQuest!
7 Years! Woo Hoo! Time to get your party on!
In honor of the occasion we are bringing you updated Anniversary-themed items that you can pick up downstairs at the party by riding the Floorivator at Tek's Mechs. The Pajama/Cake party (accessible via the GEARS Parties button) has an updated dialogue reflecting on some of the events of the past year.
Coinciding with the anniversary, this release also brings a change to stat training. You still get 5 points per level to spend - 6 if you upgrade to Star Captain - but now you can train them faster. You can now train 10 points per session - and 20 if you are a Star Captain!
Star Captains may now get an item for your starships that essentially turns stat training into an "online course." Instead of having to battle a bazillion times to retrain your stats, you just allocate 20 points and press the "Train" button. Bazinga! No more marathon sessions required just to change your build. Pick yours up today at the button in Soluna City Main!
We have a super-huge release planned for this Friday - the big Anniversary quest! Ash has been working like a madman and coordinating with Lyris, Minar, Blues to bring you...
SORRY for the delay in posting! I was called away! When is someone going to clone me...

Thanks for all the birthday wishes on the forums and twitter ... and I haven't even gotten over to Facebook yet. The birthday credits and xp bonus is still in effect through Friday, so please enjoy it!
In case you didn't know, Lyris and Ash conspired to build me a birthday mecha! You'll find it in the Soluna City Main shop. From what I hear, Lyris had a concept for the specials design after she arted & animated the mecha, and Ash coded it. What a great surprise! Here's the rundown:

FA CD 3 1 hit 100% chance to Crit Energy Regen halt for 1-3 turns. (Random each time) 1.5/2/2.5x DoT for 3 turns.

You can also pick up the Otter head and the Pan E-Blades in the Birthday Shop.
Ah, and here's Ash now!
Greetings! Just wanted to stop in and let you know about a couple of things that'll be happening this week.
First off, the Traveler will be leaving to parts unknown this Friday. No one really knows when he'll return so if you want any of his items make sure to get this before Friday evening!
Next, the Chaos Mecha and Items will be moving to the Event screen. You can get there by clicking the Shops button, it's next to the travel button on that bottom bar, and then clicking the "Event" button with the clock picture up at the top. This is also where the free Golden Mecha are, so you can pick one of those up as well. I didn't want anyone to think the Chaos stuff just dissappeared!
For the release this week we'll have another quest in the Beard chain! The idea for the whole chain was thought up by Blade and ACW0, so if you like it make sure to let them know! Blade even made a beardy head weapon for this weeks release!
I'm able to do quests pretty well now so I'm trying to finish this up for you guys. It's a really cool story and one that's both funny and interesting. Once it's all wrapped up I'll work on the second half of the "Going Gray???" event! See you Friday!
Awesome news - the help on wrapping up the "Going Gray???" event is much-appreciated. I'll be super pleased to get Soluna City back to normal... if possible!
Calling all Star Captains! I'm Boy Orbitson, Grad Assistant. I'm up in the Missions Room at the Star Captain's Club. If you are one of the students who is under L25 and feeling like it's the same old grind day after day to try to get ahead, then you will definitely want to check out the missions I've got here. A little something different for some extra experience. Even if you are over L25 you will probably want to give it a run-through, just for laughs.
Happy Birthday, Minar! To celebrate Minar's birthday, light up your battles with the Ornate Blade from the Birthday Shop in Soluna City.
Chaos Is Spreading! There is now a Chaos Weapon shop in Soluna City Main where you can grab weapons! To celebrate the Chaos finale in AQW, this week you can pick up a Chaorrupted E-Blade in Soluna! See HAL in Soluna City East to get your 'hair did!'
Battle Gems PvP!??! Do you live for PvP action? Do you have a mobile device? Get all the info over on the Epic Duel Design Notes by Nightwraith (clicking the link will open a new window)
Plans, Plans, and More Plans! The MQ team is positively feverish with plans in various stages of completion. Vivi and Lyris are working on the functionality of a super-secret project that we have all been planning out. Besides ironing out the wrinkles on some existing unfinished missions and bringing you updates weekly, we're also putting together some all-new storyline and areas. Looking at wishlists and prioritizing before we actually make a firm timeline. Ash would like to note:
[5:38:40 PM] Ash: That long quests are long and take FOR-EV-ER to build
Yep yep. That they do. Tons of fun - but a lot goes into them. So - have fun, try to focus on achieving a goal (whether in game or in real life), and let us know on the forums and on twitter how everything is going. Thanks so much for playing MechQuest!
Happy Birthday, Korin! To celebrate, pick up a Ketchup Cannon in the birthday shop in Soluna City Main. It's also the perfect date for this week's main release, which
> Incoming transmission: Ash
Oh ha. Well I'll just let him do the talking!
Greetings! This week we have a somewhat larger release, at least it feels that way to me. Hah!
Last week I was talking to Mae about what we could do to give you all something larger than normal. I came up with the idea to do something for our players who have done everything in the storyline already and wanted something extra. This turned into something larger than I had planned and it pushed me farther than I've gone in a while.
Tonight we have an addition to Planet 51. It's a series of fights that you can access after you've beaten the current 51, finished Yokai, AND finished Necryptos. Once you've done all that you can use the button that shows up on Korin's list.
This has several fights, most chosen by players when I asked, as well as one final fight that I came up with myself. It will take a little thought and strategy to beat a couple of them, but if you can it'll be worth it.
I also did some updates to the old Planet 51 rewards that you'll find in the Arm reward shop once you win. There's also some new stuff too that I came up with just for this. Some of the rewards are hints about something I'm cooking up personally and something in particular gives a hint at where the storyline is going next. You might have to talk to someone once you win to find out what that is though.
I hope you enjoy it and I'm very thankful to Mae for letting me go all crazy and do this. Make sure to let me know on the forums what you think of the fights and the rewards!
I'm quite thankful to Ash for all the hard work he put into this!
Here's a screenshot for you
Speaking of hard work, Minar is hard at work in his free time in between summer classes, creating art and animating because we are putting together an ALL-NEW mecha for you! It's slated for release on the 4th of July.
Also in the works: some serious chaos is coming your way next week. So have a great weekend, enjoy this week's new content, and get ready for more!
Happy Birthday Jemini! Star Captains: Get your Seasonal Rare Jemini Hologram from the shop in Soluna City and display it on your starship.
Star Captains: Permanent Version Of Strider Now In SC Club!
I would like to thank you personally for upgrading to Star Captain and for your support of MechQuest. This game is so important to me, and it's because of your love of the game that we are able to keep providing updates. Not myself alone - the entire MechQuest team!
Incoming Transmission: Ash
Greetings! Something I've wanted to do for a while now was get back to doing the monthly SC release. I'm going to be doing something each month now, maybe not a mech each time but something to thank you guys for your support. This month Blues and I wanted to do something really special to kick it off, so we decided on doing the very first SCEM, the Strider. We didn't want to just copy the old one with nothing changed so Blues re-statted it as an offensive mech with a LOT of firepower.
Strider-P FA/BA - CD= 1

Applies a 1.5x HP and EP DoT, either arm. Every additional use of either arm buffs the DoTs by .5x. Caps at 4x.

+25 BtH for 4 turns.
Enemy Boost NoT, -7, per turn, for 5 turns.
Bd - CD=4

Hit 2: 25% damage, (if hit hits) + 25 BtH for 4 turns.
Hit 3: 30% damage, (if hit hits) Nerf enemy immo res by addition -60.
Hit 4: 40% damage, (if hit hits) Disables head when equippable.
Hit 5: 60% damage, (if hit hits) Attempts to stun.
You can pick it up now in the shop with the other perm versions of the SCEM's. (They are in the Star Captain Club on the second floor.) Also last week we had the Memorial Day shop. I didn't get the stats to Mae in time for a DN so here they are now!.

Hopefully you liked them. Next year will have a different set of effects! Enjoy the new mechs!
Thank you, Ash!
I also meant to mention that we have a couple of new bughunters on the www.Artix.com /bugs end of things now. Big thanks to kasama999 (many of you will recognize him from our forums) and Dragrinn for assisting Gianna Glow and the MQ team in hunting down and confirming the bugs you report to us. "We Aim To Be Gremlin-Free!" (TM)1
Have a great weekend, everyone!
1(Not really TM)2
2(It might be a good idea to TM this)3
3(Eh let's just squash all the bugs and not worry about trademarking a silly phrase...)
Hi! I'm going on vacation tomorrow for a week! I'll be checking my email and the forums and twitter when I have internet access. MQ is in good hands with Vivi and Ash doing next week's update, and Korin is going to help post Design Notes for you, so you probably won't even notice I"m away.
Greetings! This week I worked on getting a bunch of the bugs that were around, and that you all reported recently, fixed. There were a bunch, and I can't mention all of them, but to sum up everything. - A bunch of typos. - Item bugs. - Mech bugs - Travel Map bug - Romero quest bug
I also have a hunt tonight for you all for a new type of mod. These still boost stats but they boost a different set then you all usually see. I'm working on seeing about putting extra effects on new mods for some true passive effects but for now I wanted to put these out. What better way to do that then a hunt through the game! I'm hiding the mods in a shop and the following is your clue.
"Struggled to be free, fled from destruction, leaving pieces behind with a kind of kin."
Good luck and feel free to work together on the forums! Have fun!
bip bip pongggggg
I wanted to mention that you might want to build up your stash of credits because there's an o.Ops weapon planned for later this month. Good chance to run into Richy the Rich Guy in the Soluna East mission this weekend. Also, we've got a little something for you on Mother's Day so definitely log in again on Sunday!
Well this is embarrassing... there's a critical issue with the Maypril quest involving cutscenes and player positioning that makes it unplayable and that has taken me way too long to sort out. So things remain color-faded until further notice. Which shouldn't be too much longer. But you know what they say about the best-laid plans... mmm scrambled eggs! It'll end up being better than it would have been.
We're laying the groundwork for some great new features and continuing to plan ahead for a very exciting set of releases while we work on bugfixing. I am so excited about all of this coming together for you!
May the 4th E With You: Be sure to log in on May the 4th to get a cool new holiday rare E-blade. Classic "lightsaber" styled weapons to fit the holiday. There will be versions for NSC, SC, and NG. Clarion made a whole lot of them, and Ash is inspired to add more colors -
transmission incoming: it's Ash!
Greetings! Some of you mentioned that you weren't fans of the way the 4pri1 mech worked, so we took that into consideration for the Maypril mech. Blues and I talked about a few things and we came up with the following for this year.
FA CD=3 Inflicts a 1x(1.5x/2x) HP DoT Chance to inflict a x2(2.5x/3x) HP DoT instead.
BA CD=3 Deals increased damage on hit. Amount is random. 3 turn increasing Defense nerf over time effect. -8(-9/-10) per turn. (-8 -> -16 -> -24 -> expired)
FS CD=4 Crit chance increase 4 turn enemy damage Nerf over Time effect. Starts at -25(-30/-35) and decreases by 8 per turn. (-25 -> -17 -> -9 -> -1 -> expired)
BS CD=2 Effect based on how many hits connected. 5 hits - Buffs Boost by 20(25/30) for 2 turns. 3-4 hits - Buffs Boost by 10(15/20) for 2 turns. 1-2 hits - Buffs Bonus by 20(25/30) for 2 turns. 0 hits - Buffs Bonus by 40(45/50) for 2 turns.
HD CD=4 4 turn increasing Bonus nerf over time effect. -7(-8/-9) per turn. (-7 -> -14 -> -21 -> -28 -> expired) Rolls Nerfs enemy ImmoRes by -50 and chance for 2 turn stun Else 1 turn stun
BD CD=4 Enemy BtH nerf over time. Starts at -40(-45/-50) and decreses by 10 per turn. (-40 -> -30 -> -20 -> -10 -> expired)
In other news I did a few more revamps for Lagos. Robina's shops will have a bunch of higher level items for you guys. Hopefully that will tide you all over since I've done about all I can for right now. I'll revisit the planet in the future but I need to focus on some new stuff. Enjoy the F001 and I look forward to hearing what you guys think of it.
Greetings! As some of you know I've been messing around with new effects. Welp, I came up with one that is really powerful. It's not just powerful, it pretty much laughs at your opponent. Because of that I built it into a new mech and we're going to let you all have it for a limited time. Now it does have a low chance to activate instead of the normal effect, but when it happens it does some really cool stuff. Since I was given an assignment to create a powerful mech I decided to use the idea and convert the rest of the mech around it. Being all fancy and such I came up with an in-game reason for it.
The Nubertron mech is a basic mech many of you are familiar with. It's an alright mech to start off with but it was the perfect test bed for a new power core. This core is a prototype of my own design and is way more powerful then anything I would normally let pilot's take out and use. (Even if you have saved the universe a few times.) I usually wait till I've fixed the power spikes and damage jumps before releasing it, but in this case I just couldn't resist letting you all play around with my prototype.
My creation is called the "Ultra Broad-ranging Energy Recovery core" or "U.B.E.R. Core" for short. This core usually only gives you a fairly large boost to mech HP recovery, granting a random amount of health back to you. This prototype can instead, very rarely, interface with your opponent and actually steal its HP and EP while giving YOUR HP and EP to the opponent. It's very random and the effect could make things really bad if it triggers when the opponent has less health then you, but it could also be amazing if you're down to almost nothing and the enemy is near full.
Like I said, it's a prototype and a lot stronger then any other future versions I make will be, but it's a powerful piece of tech I know that you can use. The core has one other side effect. It's increased the damage and effects off all the other built in weapons. It won't boost the damage of non-built in weapons but it does grant a hefty bonus to the current ones.
That sounded like an NPC explaining something in game but it makes it sound cooler to hear it like that sometimes.
In other news, last week you'll remember that I tweaked some of the Lagos mechs and equipment. Some of you mentioned that those mechs didn't really seem to have a theme after that. They made convincing arguments and showed the pro's and con's of what each mech could have done so I went ahead and redid them along with a few other mechs. All these re-tweaks, along with the tweaks to the Navigator series, the Shadowed Arthurian Lion series, AND the basic Bunzilla's will come tonight after I've had some time to take care of a few more things. I'll be posting a list of all the changes and effects in the DN thread in the MQ General Discussion area of the forums as soon as I get done with it and they are live.
I know I also said I'd revamp some weapons. The problem is some of the weapons were supposed to go rare a while ago. That's why once you get to a certain part in the war you no longer have access to some shops. Right now I'm waiting to hear back about if they are alright to revamp and make a shop button for them in the Lagos War finale screen so you all can always access them, or if they are meant to be war rares that got lost in the shuffle. Once I know, I'll be able to proceed.
Enjoy the mechs and let me know what you think of the effect!
Thanks, Ash! And thanks to Blues for advising on power level for this innovative update! Then I'll just add a quick few bits of detail and news for you...
So the Ubertron model will be in the shop in Soluna City Main for a limited time: it will close on Wednesday, April 30th. And then don't forget... Maypril will be here!
Maypril f001: This model will be in the shop for a limited time - only until Monday, May the 5th. This one will be available for Nova Gems and will also have credits versions.
Enjoy your weekend - I hope it's nice weather where you are!
Happy birthday, Lyris! The Birthday Shop in Soluna City Main has been updated with a new E-Blade to honor Lyris on the occasion of the anniversary of her birth. Thank you for the art, Clarion! But that's not all the spring holiday news...
<bzzzincoming transmissionzzt> It's Ash!
Greetings! As you may have noticed if you follow me on Twitter or visit the forums (you should visit them!) I asked what planet you all wanted a revamp of. The answer was a resounding, "LAGOS!"* So, being the nice guy that I am, I went to work revamping some of the stuff from there. The planet has a bunch of stuff so I had to split the work up between adding stuff for the Easter re-release and getting the Earth Day items ready. Right now if you visit the Hideout you'll find some new levels of the mechs in the Anchorman and Wolf shops as well as more levels of items in the weapons shop. I haven't forgotten about the Build A Mech models or the Pirate weapons and all that good stuff. That will all come next week!** I'll be doing other planets and other places in the future as well so be on the lookout for my next poll of what people want! Enjoy these and the Easter Release! Have fun!
I give you ... ... ... ...LANCEBUNNY! ...
*I possibly lost hearing from the amount of yelling for Lagos.
** I don't revamp things early or late. I revamp them exactly when they should be done.
Wow Ash! Thanks!
Next Tuesday, the Earth Day shop will open in Soluna City, and the weapons will be available for the higher levels this year. Be sure to log in - and as an extra bonus we will extend the DOUBLE REWARDS while the Earth Day shop is open! It will stay open for nine days, closing on May First. May f- ... Maypril!
Maypril is coming! The f001 mecha really doesn't want you to use a body attack, so we've been in a long wrestling match with him. Ash & blues have worked out some specials to make this model worth the wait. Will it be ready on Maypril (May the 1st)? Or will we release it without the body attack and fix it later? Who will win? We are very dogged and determined, so you should not be disappointed, whatever happens. And wait - there's more... Part Two of the April Fool mission will finally open for you!
We're also working out the details of several projects that are still under wraps, so keep your ears to twitter and your eyes on the forums! Thanks so much for playing and have a wonderful weekend!
Greetings! As the whole MQ team is now aware it's dangerous to let me write stuff for releases. I volunteered to work on this release and wrote a script. All of us had a bunch of ideas and I tried to put as many of them into this. It had a LOT of stuff in it, like a LOT of new art stuff that had to be made and bunches of dialog. Lyris did an amazing job on the new backgrounds and some of the assets and Plasma worked on something cool for the second part. Mae also deserves major props for spending a LOT of time making the rest of the backgrounds and art assets and especially for building the whole quest and making it work. (Thanks again Mae!) Part 1 is live now and Part 2 will be out as soon as it's ready.
Also the 4pri1 mech has been revived!
It's got all new specials that Blues came up with.
Head: CD=5 - BtH NoT, -7 (8,10) per turn- damage BoT, +5 (6,7) per turn- immores decrease 50 (60,70) for 5 turns---> tries to stun every turn, roll 30 (40,50) every turn
BA: CD=3 - 1x (1.5x, 2x) HP DoT FA: CD=3 - damage NoT, -7 (8,10)per turn- damages also EP with 25% of damage done BS: CD=0 - damage buff (weapon only) +10 (15,25%), caps at 200% FS: CD=3 - 1x (1.5x, 2x) EP DoT- heals EP with 50% of damage done Body: CD=5 - immores buff +100- defense BoT + 7(8,10) per turn- buffs DoT by +15(25,40%) per turn til end of fight, caps at 200% It's available from the opening of the new quest so go check it out! There were a few bugs when it initially came out but Vivi came in and helped squash the body bugs for me and I was able to fix most of the restof them this morning. Some of you remember that other mech that came out at the same time as the 4pril.Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about it. It will be out...soon. Hope you all enjoy part 1 and part 2 when it's complete!
We hope you're enjoying your Lucky Weekend! Special Happy Birthday to Gibby! We've brought back the Giblet Skewer in the Birthday Shop to commemorate the happy occasion. Have you gone up the Rainbow Road to check out the new mission? See Braddock Steele in Soluna City. Be sure to gather clovers to rank up to Ultimate Commander so that you can unlock all the reward shops.
Features of the release include:
New Clover Cutter Poleaxe E-Blades in the Clover and NG Clover reward shops. (They might be a bit hard to spot in the mass of weapons)
Advanced House Lucky mech merges that scale to 49,
NG Advanced House Lucky Mech versions that scale to 49,
level 50 Lucky versions of the Elite House Mechs, and
an all-new mission, Pot O'Gold which will bring you...
the special bonus all-new LepreScythe mecha (beat the new quest to unlock this shop!).
Also, increased chance to encounter Richy the Rich Guy in Soluna City East - all weekend!
The new mission has ... not just one, not two, but three beautiful new backgrounds from Minar, along with some shiny buttons. Ash and blues worked together on the specials for the new mecha model, which Ash coded onto it - and Ash even broke out his mad animation skills to create a walk cycle for it! We're having fun learning new skills. Clarion provided art for the Clover Cutter Poleaxe.
bzzt crackle pop bzzzzt

One more note: On Gremlins - Bug Reporting: The links on the MechQuest pages will change so you can get to the new bug zapper with one easy click. The old Gremlins forums have been retired, and the new one-size-fits-all Bug Tracker site is live. http://www.artix.com/bugs
Gianna Glow is the 'chief tracker' for MQ, and she's got a few tips on how to tailor your reports for MechQuest:
A general form pops up, with fields to fill in.
Username: put character ID and character name here Server: put location of bug here in a "planet"-"city" format
"That alone would be a HUGE help," she says.
Before submitting your report, it would be wonderful if you would: restart browser, clear cache and history, and try to duplicate the bug you're reporting. If you can describe the steps to take to make the bug happen, it will help us figure out how to fix it!
